Privacy & Cookies

Functional storage only — no analytics, no tracking.

This platform is a private streaming tool. It does not use analytics, advertising, or any third-party tracking, and it sets no third-party cookies. The only data stored in your browser is strictly functional — it exists so the app works and remembers your choices on this device. None of it is sent to anyone other than the server that runs this room.

What is stored on your device

  • Session — a short-lived access token and your participant ID for the room you are in, so you stay connected across a page refresh, plus a note if you were removed from a room. Cleared when you close the browser tab. (Administrators’ sign-in tokens for the admin interface are kept the same way.)
  • Room preferences — per-room settings such as your camera and microphone choice, noise reduction, echo cancellation, and push-to-talk, so they persist the next time you join the same room.
  • Tool preferences — settings that belong to you rather than to a room: the scopes window (which scope, its zoom and sampling, and where you parked it), and whether you have already been shown the first-run room tour.
  • Convenience — your display name and, if the room has one, the room password, so you don’t have to re-type them. You control this and can clear it at any time.

Cookies

One cookie, set by this site itself: farbstrom_tour. It records that the first-run room tour has been offered, so you are not walked through it again on every visit. Its value is simply 1 — it identifies nothing and no one — and it expires after two years. It exists as a fallback for browsers that block local storage but allow cookies.

Everything else described above is kept in your browser’s local and session storage rather than in cookies. There are no tracking or advertising cookies, and no third-party cookies of any kind.

What the room server keeps

Your camera, microphone, screen share and the broadcast itself are live only: they are relayed between the people in the room and are never recorded. Presence and the pointer overlay are transient in the same way.

  • Participants — the display name you enter, for as long as the room exists.
  • Chat and shared files — kept while the room is running, so that someone who joins later still sees them, and deleted when the room ends. A file an administrator has also added to another room is kept for that room.
  • Operator log — moderation actions, such as removing or muting a participant, are written to the server log so they can be reviewed afterwards.

Clearing your data

Session storage is cleared automatically when you close the tab. Anything kept between visits — the cookie above included — can be removed at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
